Short-Term Volunteer

Volunteers help us run our short-term and long-term monitoring programs, and also help us to care for Pacuare Reserve. Regardless of their major, profession or experience, all volunteers share two key traits: a desire to make a difference and enthusiasm for the work to be done.

Pacuare Reserve receives volunteers throughout the year and the tasks to be carried out are not necessarily linked only to research; support in operational tasks and environmental education play an important role in achieving the site's objectives.

Activities:

Sea turtle monitoring through night censuses, nest protection, hatchery care, exhumations, data collection, and hatchling releases.
Feline monitoring using camera traps, including battery checks, image downloads, photograph selection, categorization, and uploading.
Support research programs by cleaning, organizing, and maintaining scientific equipment used for species monitoring.
Support sustainability through recycling, waste management, beach cleaning, and the Blue Flag Ecological Program.
Assist operational tasks, including signage maintenance, creative projects, green-area upkeep, and general Reserve improvements.

What’s included:

3 meals a day, with vegetarian options available.
Lodging in a rustic cabin with shared bathrooms
Boat transportation from the dock to the Reserve.
Volunteering activities supervision and training.

We have availability year-round.

Requirements:

Age limit :18 years or older (minors only when accompanied by a parent/adult)
Willingness to work 5 hours per day Good health and physical condition to work in hot and humid conditions
Non-minimum academic degree required
Valid travel health and liability insurance
Language requirements: interest in practicing Spanish
